ieMentor CCIE Storage Workbook v2.0

ieMentor is proud to announce the second edition of the CCIE Storage Workbook and the new CCIE Storage Walkthrough Workbook. These two books are designed to serve as a practical self-study guide in preparation for the latest CCIE Storage Networking lab exam and for an advanced study in the storage networking field using Cisco storage products and technologies.

The original CCIE Storage Workbook v1.0 was released in April of 2006. At that time it was the first and only training material on the market for the Cisco CCIE Storage Networking lab exam. At the time of the release of this new second edition (February 2009), there are still no other CCIE Storage workbooks on the market. But this didn’t help us relax when developing the new material. We made sure that the new Workbook has all new content, covers everything you need to know about SAN-OS v3.x, and helps you towards a successful lab exam attempt.

The primary reason for releasing a new edition of the CCIE Storage workbook is the new CCIE Storage Networking Lab Exam v2.0 that Cisco Systems announced on March 3, 2008 and introduced on July 24, 2008.
  • The original CCIE Lab Exam v1.0 was based on SAN-OS v1.3
  • The original ieMentor Storage Workbook v1.0 was based on SAN-OS v1.3 and v2.x
  • The new CCIE Lab Exam v2.0 is based on SAN-OS v3.2
  • The new ieMentor Storage Workbook v2.0 is based on SAN-OS v3.3
To become an expert in Cisco Storage Networking we help you cover the following areas:
  • Understand Storage Area Networks characteristics and components. Become familiar with the names of SAN vendors and their products.
  • Learn Fibre Channel protocols and how SAN components use them to communicate with each other.
  • Become familiar with Cisco MDS 9000 Multilayer Directors and Fabric Switches, switch modules and management applications.
  • Thoroughly learn Cisco SAN-OS features. Understand the use of all SAN-OS commands. Practice variations of SAN-OS features.

ieMentor CCIE Storage Workbook Topology

What is included?

  • SAN-WORKBOOK2 CCIE Storage Workbook v2.0 (hard copy, b&w, 178 pages)
  • SAN-WORKBOOK2-DG CCIE Storage Workbook v2.0 Diagrams (soft copy PDF, color, printable, 18 pages)
  • SAN-WORKBOOK2-SLTNS CCIE Storage Workbook v2.0 Configuration Solutions (soft copy PDF, color, printable, 540 pages)
Our new CCIE Storage Workbook v2.0 is a collection of hands-on lab scenarios that are meant to prepare you for the latest Cisco CCIE Storage Networking Lab exam v2.0. Our labs are comparable to the lab scenarios tested in the CCIE exam. We believe that our lab questions are actually more comprehensive and difficult than the ones in the real CCIE exam. We have included 99% of SAN-OS 1.x, 2.x and 3.x features into our labs.

We guarantee that our lab solutions contain every possible SAN-OS CLI command that you’d ever use in the real CCIE lab.

The new Workbook v2.0 consists of 25 Focus Labs and 3 Master Labs. Each Focus Lab contains a collection of questions for a specific combination of SAN-OS features. Each Focus Lab builds on top of the previous Focus Lab. There is no need to pre-configure Lab equipment for each of the Focus Labs as long as you practice them in the order they are presented in the Workbook.

All Focus Labs are based on the same physical topology that matches our new CCIE Storage VRACK.

Focus Labs are followed by three Master Labs. Logical topology of each Master Lab is different, but they are all based on the same physical topology as the Focus Labs.

CCIE Storage Workbook v2.0 does not include solutions in itself. Within 48 hours of the order, you will be emailed a soft copy PDF file containing Workbook Focus Lab and Master Lab configuration solutions. Configuration solutions are plain configurations with minimum show commands and some necessary screenshots and do not include walkthrough steps or explanations.

If you are looking for detailed walkthrough solutions, please consider purchasing our new CCIE Storage Walkthrough Workbook v2.0 in addition to the CCIE Storage Workbook v2.0. You can save $100 buy purchasing a bundle consisting of both workbooks.

Please don’t assume that the Focus Labs are enough to study for the CCIE lab exam and that you can simply glance through the Master Lab questions. Master Labs are as important as Focus Labs. There are plenty of crucial features tested in the Master Labs that are not tested in the Focus Labs. Our goal was to have as little as possible overlap between Focus Labs and Master Labs. We have only repeated those tasks that are very important to remember.

Master Lab 3 is unique because it’s based on a topology with three MDS switches running SAN-OS 1.x, 2.x and 3.x. This lab is intended to demonstrate you how SAN-OS features can or cannot interoperate between major releases.

What is the CCIE Storage Walkthrough Workbook?

Our new CCIE Storage Walkthrough Workbook v2.0 consists of the detailed walkthrough solutions and compact theory sections for the 25 Focus Labs from the CCIE Storage Workbook v2.0. Walkthrough Workbook is meant to be used together with the Workbook. It cannot be used separately as it does not contain the actual lab questions.

You can purchase CCIE Storage Walkthrough Workbook v2.0 only if you already own our Workbook v2.0. If you only order Walkthrough Workbook v2.0 and our records do not show that you already own a copy of Workbook v2.0, we will contact you to resolve the situation.
